Abstract
This article analyzes nifaq (hypocrisy) as a theological factor causing disintegration in Muslim families. The study aims to define nifaq in the context of the family, identify its manifestations, examine its impact from a theological perspective, and offer Islamic preventive solutions. Using a qualitative research method with library research, data was collected from the Qur'an, Hadith, books of tafsir, fiqh, and scientific journals. Content analysis was applied to identify concepts, analyze manifestations of nifaq in family interactions (such as financial dishonesty, breaking promises, betrayal, and overreaching during arguments), and correlate them with household disintegration. The results show that nifaq, especially nifaq asghar (in deeds), fundamentally undermines the trust, honesty, trustworthiness and compassion that are the main pillars of the Muslim family. These manifestations of nifaq cause negative psychological and social impacts on spouses and children, triggering intense conflict, infidelity, unfaithfulness, and ultimately leading to divorce. Theologically, nifaq is hated by Allah SWT because it contradicts the goal of Islamic marriage to achieve sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah. As a solution, this article emphasizes the importance of piety and muraqabah, the application of the principles of honesty and trustworthiness, the role of religious education, the mechanism of islah and deliberation, and the role model of the husband/father and wife/mother in creating a sincere family environment.
